Sadly, earlier this week, the digital community lost a wonderful woman and talented artist. Jacqui Mc Neil, owner of The Digi Garden, passed earlier this week of possible heart failure. We, at Craft Your Passion Challenges, would like to send our heartfelt condolences to her family and dedicate this challenge to Jacqui.
The challenge theme this week at Craft Your Passion posed quite a challenge for me! The theme is pastels so no dark colours are allowed. I tend towards brights and always use dark colours for contrast. It took me ages to go through my papers to find pastel patterns. I had a choice of two... seriously. The non-challenging part was working with this adorable Macy image from The Digi Garden. She is so cute!
Macy was coloured with Prismacolor pencils, given half pearl eyes, and cut out using a Spellbinders Curved Rectangles die.The edges were inked with Vintage Photo Distress ink, faux stitched, and matted with kraft coloured cardstock.
The background papers are from a very old DCWV paper collection called The Spring Stack. I used pieces of both pages matting both with kraft cardstock. Faux stitching was doodled on both mats. A length of crinkly pale gray seam binding was adhered across the bottom band of paper and tied with another piece so the knot was oriented vertically. Macy was popped up on foam tape and adhered onto the background.White buttons were threaded with pink floss and added to two Recollections flowers. A leaf shape was cut from a larger leaf and adhered to one side of the cluster. A small rose was added to the other side to make the grouping contain the preferred three items. A K&Company bauble which says sweet was added to the opposite corner from the flowers.
Whew! I managed the pastels and even like the results. I didn't go into brights and darks withdrawal either :) Be sure to check out the rest of the DT projects on the Craft Your Passion Challenges blog. They are worth the journey over there :) I hope you'll join us in this challenge which for many of you will be a cake-walk. So many people do such pretty things with pastels. Thanks for visiting today. Macy and I appreciate your good company.

Pretty in pastel. I love how the flowers pull in the pink from the designer paper.
ReplyDeleteHey girlfriend! I am so glad you stayed for another term - I so enjoy your art! This card is another example... the detail you always put into a card is so fun to examine - the distressed edges, faux stitching, the layers and unique embellishments. Then top it with your coloring and shading skills! Ginny likes!
