CYP ~ Hello, my friend

There is a fun challenge beginning today at Craft Your Passion Challenges. The theme is Onesies and the challenge is to use the one sketch provided with one designer paper, one embellishment, one image, and one sentiment. I found this particularly challenging because I never work from a sketch on a normal basis. I rarely have a plan starting out just letting things evolve so to start with a plan, the sketch, really felt unnatural and made me think. I like that!

I was able to work with one of Teri's gorgeous images from Delicious Doodles called Marina. I coloured Marina and her friends with Prismacolor pencils before cutting  the image out as a rectangle and then rounding the corners. The image was matted on black cardstock to frame it and give it greater visual weight. The same cardstock was cut into the rounded band and faux stitched with a white paint pen. Metallic pens in blue and silver were added to the details of the image for added shine.

The background paper comes from Me & My Big Ideas' Low Tide paper stack. Again it was matted with the same textured cardstock. I turned the sketch on its side and stacked the pieces according to the plan. The circle element on the band became a large button from my stash. The sentiment was computer-generated on white cardstock which was trimmed into fishtails, faux stitched, and inked around the edges with Black Soot Distress ink. The sentiment was matted with foam tape with two layers stacked in the center to give it a bowed appearance.
