How Charming ~ CYP Challenge 182

We have a new challenge for you at Craft Your Passion this Monday morning. The theme is Add a Little Charm which means that we want to see an actual charm added to your project. Our sponsor for this week's $10 prize certificate is The Robin's Nest and we were allowed to provide our own image from anywhere. I have recently discovered the amazing art of Mitzi Sato-Wiuff who sells both her art and digis out of her Etsy shop, Aurora Wings. I have purchased a whole bunch of her stamps so I decided to feature one on today's project. He is called Acorn Sprite and I love his whimsy...and his little acorn hat.

I printed the image twice so that I could pop parts of him up for dimension. I used my Prismacolor pencils and cut the main image out using a Spellbinders Labels 25 die. The edges were inked with Broken China Distress ink. In the photos the whole background of the image and the card base look blue but IRL it's only the outside edge of the image that is light blue...shrug! His face and three leaves plus his arm/hands were coloured on the second image, fussy cut and popped up with dimensional tape after the edges were inked with black Big Brush pen. Two tiny rhinestones were added for the sparkle in his eyes. The image cut with the die was matted with black cardstock and foam dots were applied to the back.

The background paper comes from Graphic 45's The Olde Curiosity Shoppe collection. It was matted in black cardstock. A band of black was cut to fit across the card to serve as a contrasting background for the sinamay mesh. This mesh is very cool. It's quite stiff and I love how uneven the fibres are. I think it's used in floral arrangements. Once that was adhered to the back of the band, four silver rimmed rust coloured brads were added to the left side.

The right side was balanced with a wrapping of crinkled seam binding. A second piece tied the tree charm onto the vertical length. This allowed the knot ends to stay horizontal and the charm to hang down properly. To complete the card, puffy stickers were added to the bottom right to spell fall and a 5/8" circle was punched and trimmed to fit in the upper right corner. White paint pen dots were added to the curved edge...because I love little details :)

Thank you for stopping by today to meet Cornelius the Acorn Sprite and to hang out with me. Thanks also to all of the people who have decided to follow my blog...both the newbies and the ones who have been with me for a while. I so appreciate your company and support in my crafty journey. If you get a minute, pop by the Craft Your Passion Challenges blog to take a gander (how funny is that expression!) at the wonderful projects created by my talented teamies for this Add a Little Charm challenge. It would be cool if you joined us. I'd love to see your take on the theme.

  13. When I was little, one of my favorite books was "Miss Hickory" about a little creature with a hickory nut head. Your card brought back that memory! Love how you popped up parts of the image and the mesh. Thanks for sharing with us at Sugar Creek Hollow!
