Joggles Art Journal Adventure ~ Week 19 Prompt
Hi there! Yesterday I had a blast creating my response to Barb's Joggles Art Journal Adventure Week 19 Prompt, Borders of Another Kind. While I departed from her original in some ways, I was certainly inspired by and used many of her elements. She did an organic shaped border filled with circles with another border inside on two sides. I created my outside border using black cardstock and shaped the inside edges with the Dylusions Stamp Block edge, cutting away the inside so the white paper would show through. Instead of doodling the circles, I created them with Dylusions White Linen Paint and various sizes of bottle lids, mainly because I was curious to see if that worked :)
I used a strip of Yupo paper from a background which I had coloured with Alcohol Inks but hadn't used for a page yet. The shape was again created by tracing the Dylusions Block shape to echo the black curves. This became my "ground" for the flowers and was adhered to the back of the black border. The border was set in place and the inside edges were traced onto the blank journal page. Again using the Dylusions Block edge, I traced a line inside the opening to create a second border. It was then lined off and every other square was coloured in with Black Pitt Brush Tip Pen. That gave me my border within a border and the black border was adhered to the background with Scor Tape.
Ever since I received Joggles/Virginia England's Funky Flowers Cling Rubber Stamps, I have been wanting to tangle inside those lovely open spaces. Barb doodled her own garden (she is a fabulous doodler!) but I figured this was the perfect time to tangle my own version of Virginia England's garden. I stamped Funky Flower #2, Funky Flower #4, and Funky Flower #6 onto white cardstock using Jet Black Archival ink and under the close supervision of Molly, one of my cats, I tangled and doodled inside all openings. It was so fun! They were each fussy cut leaving a narrow white border and matted with black cardstock to frame them again.
Before adhering the outside two with foam tape and the center one with Scotch Quick Dry, more tangles and doodles were added to the background to fill in the space and create interest. These were done with a Fine Black Pitt pen. To complete the page, two white TH Chitchat Stickers saying Embrace Possibility, were adhered to the bottom right corner and outlines with a white Signo pen. Black Big Brush Pen was used to edge the journal page on three sides and I called it done like dinner.
Thanks for joining me today. I am looking forward to tangling the other 6 Funky Flower Stamps and see where they take me creatively. I really like the black and white border and images and that touch of green is just fabulous! Great work. xx
