Hey there! We have a new challenge beginning today at Craft Your Passion. The theme is On the Move/Transportation and our fabulous sponsor is QKR Stampede. I love their quirky and witty images and always take a long time choosing just one. No surprise that I decided to think a little outside the box on the transportation theme by playing with this adorable image called Cow Ferrie. Flying is definitely a means of transportation.
I printed Fern the cow ferrie on kraft cardstock and coloured her with Prismacolor pencils. The trick for getting bright true colour on kraft using coloured pencil is to undercoat with white pencil before applying the other colours over top. Fern was cut out with a Spellbinders Curved Rectangles die, edged with Vintage Photo Distress ink, and doodled around with a black Micron.
The background started with a while base, a layer of black cardstock, and then four punched circles of various scraps of designer paper. The circles and Fern were adhered to the background and then the circles were. faux stitched. The black rectangle was dotted with a white paint pen. The sentiment was computer generated, matted in teal cardstock, and popped up on foam tape.
To balance the top right corner and add a third spot of the striped paper, several flowers were stacked and topped with an enamel dot. Narrow leaves were cut from the striped paper and faux stitched to tie in with the circles and add more whimsy to the design.
Fern and I thank you for stopping by today. We love that you do that! When you get a chance, pop over to the Craft Your Passion Challenges blog to check out the other fun projects created by my talented teamies. We'd love to see you play along with our On the Move/Transportation challenge this week.
