H(eye)

Boy, have we got a challenge for you this week at Craft Your Passion. The theme this week is to use only two colours. At first, I thought easy-peasy until I started looking at images and thinking about the colours I would use. Three is easy but two takes thought. I actually love that kind of challenge because it moves me out of my comfort zone.

Since our sponsor this week is Dilly Beans, I chose to work with one of my all time favourite Dilly Bean images, Eyeball Flower. I printed it on white cardstock and pulled out my trusty blue Prismacolor pencils to colour the eye and petals. The stem, leaves, pupil, and dots on the flower center were filled in with a black Micron pen. It was also used to doodle the border around the image rectangle. Black Soot Distress ink was inked around the outer edges and the image piece was matted with black cardstock to frame it and give it more visual weight.

Black striped designer paper from my stash was layered over more black cardstock before a bright blue grosgrain ribbon was wrapped around the background layers. The image layers were adhered over the ribbon with foam dots and the lettering was added with stickers. This is one of those cards where less is more. I auditioned various embellies but all of them seemed to take away from the clean strong lines and pop of bright colour on this card so in the end, I stuck to clean and simple. Works for me!

Thanks for visiting today and a special thanks to all of my followers. I so appreciate your support and encouragement...and the friendships that I have made and continue to make along this journey. Be sure to check out the wonderful creations made by my Craft Your Passion Challenges teamies. We're hoping you'll be inspired to play along with us this week.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Craftyboots Challenges ~ Old, New, Borrowed, or Blue
Incy Wincy Designs ~ Things That Begin With F
One Stitch At A Time ~ Challenge 154 Anything Goes

Life is good; so is art.

Those Dilly Bean images are always wacky, but they're perfect for a mixed media artist like you. Great take on the challenge Bonnie! Hugs!

Hi Bonnie, I have never seen that stamp before but I love it! Such a challenge to use just two colours but you have done a brilliant job. The bold backing paper really lifts the flower/eye image and love your doodling around the edge. Hugs, Anne x
