Rocking the Catwalk ~ Inspired by Week 5 Joggles Art Journal Adventure

Hi everyone. I am playing along with Barb who is doing a weekly post at Joggles' blog. It's called Art Journal Adventure and she creates an inspiration project to which we can respond in any way we like. I look at what she has done and what she has used and pick out the elements or things which I want to include in my own art journal spread. This week she did the cutest page featuring these hilarious and quirky little gnomes from Stampotique. I didn't have gnomes but I had some funky cat images from Vera Lane Studio which fit the bill.

I coloured the 4 cat images, three from Les Chats and one from Girl and Cat With Hats, using Polychromos and Prismacolor pencils. Then I coloured and added hats from the image Boutique Hats because these cats are glamouristas. Like Barb's spread, Stickles and black rhinestones or pearls were added to their eyes, lashes, and hats for shine and dimension. The cats were fussy cut leaving a narrow white border, matted with black cardstock, and popped up on foam tape to create dimension and shadow.

To create the blue background, water was added to the page leaving a border around the page. Watered down Process Cyan FW ink was washed over the water base. Once dry, Dylusions White Linen Ink Spray was spritzed through Dylusions 12 x 12 Diamond of a Border stencil to create interest. Cyan ink and Waterfall Green Pearlescent Ink were used to add splatters with a fan brush. More patterning was added with Ranger Forget-Me-Not Archival Ink and Joggles Background Noise Spark stamp. Ranger Deep Purple Archival Ink was used to apply Joggles Background Noise Dots stamps.

I didn't have any deli paper painted or inked with the colours I needed like she used but I did have mop up papers and gel print scraps that I could use for the catwalk stage. They were adhered in a staggered fashion which the girls covered. Black and white painty rings were created with Dylusions paint and two sizes of bottle lids. White Embossing paste was scraped through TCW's Tiny Circles stencil to add texture and break up some of the spaces. Bits of washi tape adhered to white cardstock, drywall mesh tape, and watercolour  scraps from the top of a page were also layered here and there to bring the pink from the images around the background. The border and some outlining were created with a Black Pitt Pen and black cardstock stars were punched and added to each corner. White paint pen dots tied the border to the embossing paste dots. The sentiment was printed onto white cardstock, matted with black, and popped up on foam tape like the cats.

Thanks so much for popping by today. The Catwalkers and I appreciate your visit. I am having great fun with Joggles' weekly Art Journal Adventure prompts. Check it out...there's a new one every Monday. Hope to see you there! And when you get a minute pop by Vera Lane Studio on Etsy. She has such fun images!

Life is good; so is art.
