Baby, It's Cold Outside ~ TEW Challenge 19

Boy, our theme for Challenge 19 at The East Wind, Baby It's cold outside, is so appropriate in mid-western Ontario right now. We are in the midst of a snowstorm and the temperature is chilly to say the least! It's been snowing for 2 days and staying instead of melting in the afternoon. For this challenge, we want to see projects that reflect that chilly weather even if you are lucky enough to still have it warm where you are!

I chose to colour the lovely Aurora Waiting For You image from The East Wind shop. Did you see the fabulous rendition Unky did with this image in last week's video? And speaking of videos...you have to  check out her hair video from this week...holy cow! I loved it and learned a ton. Anyway, I coloured Aurora with Prismacolor pencils and inked the die cut edges with Tumbled Glass and Broken China Distress inks. Then, just for fun, I added a snippet of cheesecloth for the steam rising from her cup and some Icicle Stickles to the center of each snowflake. This layer was matted in black and popped up on foam tape.

A black rectangle was cut slightly smaller than the white card front. Blue dotty paper was cut into two rectangles which would fit side by side inside the black one leaving a border on all sides and between the two. The blue rectangles were edged with Faded Jeans Distress ink beofre being adhered to the matting. The image layer was centered over these layers so that the points top and bottom lined up with the black space between.

Three large snowflakes were punched from white cardstock and then embossed with a dotty folder. Icicle Stickles were spread over them using my finger. A large pearl was adhered to the center of each before they were attached to the three corners of the card.

The computer generated sentiment was die cut in a circle shape, matted in black, and faux stitched. It was then adhered to the fourth corner with two layers of foam tape for extra dimension.

Thanks so much for popping in on Aurora and me today. We appreciate that and hope that wherever you are, you stay warm and toasty...or cool as a cucumber...whatever works for you :) To see the other wonderful inspiration projects by the rest of the DT, pop over to The East Wind Challenge blog when you get a minute. We'd love to have you join us for this Baby It's Cold Outside challenge.

Life is good; so is art.
