Winter ~ RSD November Showcase project
It's time for the November Showcase at RSD's Sparkle and Glitter blog. The theme for this month is Winter which is very apropos here in Ontario, Canada. I have been waiting for the opportunity to colour another of Rick St. Dennis' fabulous hat ladies, this one called Palm Court Hat Lady. I figured with the gorgeous fur around her neck, it must be cold where she is but that's not stopping her from exuding STYLE. No touques and mittens on strings for this beauty.
I coloured her with Prismacolor pencils, adding a little Cinnamon Stickles to the center of her hat flower. She was fussy cut leaving a narrow white border and popped up on foam tape to create that lovely shadow.
A rectangle of Foil cardstock was cut to fit just inside the white card front. A slightly smaller rectangle of deep blue cardstock was cut to fit inside that, leaving the icy silver border showing. The blue cardstock was stamped with Versamark using two snowflake stamps and embossed with Snowflake Tinsel powder. Two sizes of snowflakes were punched from a thin sheet of silver metal and adhered to the blue base using Glossy Accents. I love how dimensional the metal becomes once punched. The edges curl a bit which catches the light in a cool way.
To finish the design, three medium sized faceted rhinestones were adhered to the top left corner. This was balanced by the bow on top of the silver cord which was wrapped around the lower section of the card. This is a very different style of card for me with the silver and the understated elegance but I'm happy with it. Both the Winter theme and this beautiful image seemed to call for this kind of look.
To check out other fantastic projects by other member of Rick's EDT, pop over to the Sparkle and Glitter blog. It's always a treat for me to see how others interpret the same them and this Showcase did not disappoint!
Life is good; so is art.

Stunning! I love this hat lady and I think the colouring is wonderful. The snowy background is just lovely.
A beautiful piece of art, perfect for this theme. Love all you have going on. It's the perfect balance for this image.
