New Release from Sandra Caldwell ~ Party Pooper Polly 895

Hi everyone. Every Monday, Sandra Caldwell releases a wonderful collection of new releases to her Etsy shop, Babycakes Digis and Design. This week I played with this adorable image called Party Pooper Polly and built a journal page around her.

Polly was coloured with a mix of Prismacolor and Polychromos pencils. Like most of my images, she was fussy cut leaving a narrow white border and then matted with black cardstock. She was then popped up on foam tape ready for her starring role.

The 6 x 8 inch background of mixed media paper was spritzed with Yellow Rose of Texas, Hottie Patottie Hot Pink, and Hag's Wart Orange Lindy's Starburst Sprays. It was allowed to dry thoroughly and then stamped with a background stamp with a weaving design using Magenta Hue Archival Ink. Jet Black Archival Ink was applied to Joggles Nonsense Latin Text and rolled onto the background to get imperfect partial images. A fishtail flag was die cut from white cardstock and three different washi tapes were used to cover it before it was matted with black cardstock. The top was cut off to make it the right length and that piece was placed to the left and under Polly. A scalloped border was added to the bottom of that small section. Polly was then adhered to the background.

The sentiment, which I'm sure none of you can relate to, was printed on white cardstock and each word was cut out individually. They were then matted with black and popped up on foam tape on the flag. Because Polly looks like she is pondering something or is perhaps confused (Now where was I? or What did I come in here for??), I added Alpha Parts Question Marks to the top left and bottom right corners. A border was doodled around the edges and Black Big Brush Pen was used to edge the page. A small piece of the scalloped border was tucked under the word again to tie the two washi tape pieces together and add another pop of black. To finish the page, black cardstock was used to mat it and serve as a frame.

Thanks for popping by today. Polly and I are happy you did. To see the rest of Sandra's new releases and what my talented teamies created with them, be sure to stop by the Sandra Caldwell Stamp Fans Facebook group where the DT will be posting their creations today. Check out Sandra's Etsy shop, too. She has a wonderful array of images sure to make you smile, tug at your heartstrings, and inspire you.

Life is good; so is art.
